History
The Colt Single Action Army, better known as the "Peacemaker", is undoubtedly one of the most iconic revolvers in American history. Introduced in 1873 by Colt's Patent Fire-Arms Manufacturing Company, it quickly established itself as a benchmark thanks to its ruggedness, reliability, and mechanical simplicity. Adopted by the U.S. Army to equip the cavalry, it accompanied the westward expansion and became the weapon of choice for soldiers, pioneers, sheriffs, and adventurers of the era. Its distinctive silhouette and single-action mechanism made it one of the defining symbols of the Wild West. Immortalized by cinema and popular culture, the Colt Single Action Army remains an essential piece for collectors of historic American firearms today.
Our Model
This specific unit has undergone a meticulous, complete restoration. The metal components now feature a uniform finish and excellent visual appeal. The markings—some of which appear to have been refreshed during restoration—remain clearly visible. The matching serial number dates its manufacture to 1880, right in the midst of the conquest of the West. The abbreviated serial number is also present on the cylinder, in accordance with the manufacturing practices of that time. The assembly is completed by a perfectly fitted stock—typical of the era's craftsmanship—in excellent condition.
The restoration also addressed the mechanical components; worn parts have been replaced. The revolver exhibits no play or excessive cylinder gap. The four characteristic clicks of the Colt Single Action Army are crisp and distinct, the action is smooth, and the trigger pull is clean. The 5½-inch barrel, chambered in .45 Colt, features a pristine, mirror-like bore—near-mint condition—with sharp, deep rifling that ensures excellent accuracy potential.
This restored Colt Peacemaker offers collectors the opportunity to acquire an iconic piece of the Old West, combining historical authenticity with perfect suitability for Western-style shooting.
The firearm comes with its official classification certificate designating it as Category D(e), issued by the Saint-Étienne National Proof House.
