Firearms Sales Legislation and French Law

Information and French Law Regarding the Sale of Firearms

Thank you for your interest in our website. On this page, you will find information regarding firearms sales legislation and French law. We are available should you have any questions, comments, or special requests.

We take great care in describing our antique firearms with extensive detail and complete honesty. However, as everyone may have a different perspective, we supplement our product documentation with numerous detailed photographs. Firearms can also be viewed by appointment at our premises in Val d'Oise (95). We also participate in several gun shows, which we regularly announce via our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Some details on the following points:

Shipping

Unless otherwise requested, firearms, collectibles, and ammunition (shipped exclusively within mainland France) are sent via registered Colissimo with signature upon delivery. Small parts are shipped by tracked mail. Customers may also arrange collection through a carrier of their choice, who can pick up the goods directly from our showroom. A flat fee of €25 is charged for optional additional insurance coverage of up to €5,000. In the event that a parcel is damaged or shows signs of deterioration, it is essential to make specific reservations with the carrier upon delivery and have the damage officially recorded. Failure to do so may result in the insurance claim being denied.

Firing Weapons and Collectible Firearms

The vast majority of the antique and collectible firearms we offer are functional; we provide details in each product description. Some are even in a condition and of a quality that surpasses the shooting capabilities of a modern firearm. An antique firearm could be compared to a classic car, which, even in excellent condition, would suffer too much from daily non-stop driving between Paris and Marseille. In all cases, we recommend exercising extreme caution when firing antique firearms, particularly by avoiding the use of excessive powder charges. We are available to answer any questions you may have on this subject.

Sales Certificate, Expertise

Upon request, we can provide an expert appraisal certificate for our products or those submitted by the client. Please contact us by email for pricing.

Purchase, Consignment, and French Regulations on Firearms Sales

French law requires that the sale of certain categories of firearms be conducted by or through a licensed gunsmith. The 2020 regulations on firearms sales will further reinforce this requirement. For the sale of firearms outside these categories, disputes may arise regarding the classification of the category by the authorities. As a qualified gunsmith, we can purchase your antique American firearms (excluding Category B) individually or as a whole collection, with complete transparency and security for you, or we can arrange a sale through consignment.

Firearms Sales Legislation

Our product descriptions indicate the category of each firearm.

Category D Firearms Sales Legislation

Category D firearms are available for purchase without restriction to adults. There are no restrictions on purchasing and possessing these weapons other than being of legal age and a French citizen; individuals of other nationalities must consult us before making their purchase. However, by purchasing your weapon on our website, with the sales certificate we provide, you are assured that it corresponds to Category D.
According to the legal framework, no information about the sale or its owner is transmitted to your local prefecture. Similarly, no specific storage requirements (safe, disassembled weapon) are imposed; however, you must act responsibly for your safety and the safety of others.
For your purchase, please send us a copy of both sides of your identification document. This will be required before we can ship your weapon.

Legislation on the Sale of Category C Weapons

The sale of Category C weapons is strictly regulated by French law. As a licensed gunsmith, we can guarantee the sale of your antique weapon in compliance with these regulations. For French citizens, you must provide us with a copy of both sides of your identity document, as well as a copy of your hunting license with its validation stamp, or your duly stamped shooting license, or your collector's card, before shipping your firearm. Upon receipt, we will consult the Finiada database. We will handle all the necessary registration formalities. For specific cases falling under the exceptions that allow you to acquire a Category C firearm, please contact us.
