History

The Colt Single Action Army revolver—nicknamed the "Peacemaker"—is the iconic weapon of the American West's expansion. The initial version, produced in 1873, was chambered in .45 Colt and featured a 7½-inch barrel. Over the years, Colt offered numerous variants with different calibers and barrel lengths. This legendary revolver was adopted by everyone from U.S. Cavalry troopers to outlaws, sheriffs, cowboys, and pioneers.

A true Western icon, it holds a central place in the collective imagination thanks to classic Hollywood cinema. Today, the Colt SAA is the most sought-after historical collector's firearm in the world. Units manufactured before 1900 fall under Category D classification and can be purchased freely by any adult.

Our Model

Having previously presented an identical model with a short barrel, we now offer an elegant long-barreled version (7½ inches) of the Colt Single Action Army Frontier Six-Shooter.

It would be difficult to improve upon this specimen. It has undergone a meticulous restoration carried out in the style of prestigious American firms like Turnbull, featuring perfectly shaded, factory-correct case coloring that stays true to the original Colt aesthetic. Today, the firearm appears in a condition remarkably close to that of a revolver fresh from the Colt workshops in the late 19th century. The metal components boast a deep blued finish, vibrant fire-blue accents, and harmonious case coloring. The markings are correct, crisp, and perfectly legible: the "44" caliber marking beneath the barrel, "44CF" on the trigger guard, and the famous "Colt Frontier Six Shooter" etched panel on the left side of the barrel (typical of early production models). Serial number 53XXX—found on the butt, trigger guard, and cylinder—dates its manufacture to 1880. The piece is completed by a varnished grip in excellent, perfectly fitted condition.

Mechanically, the condition is flawless, with no defects or play. The 7½-inch barrel, chambered in .44-40, features a mirror-like bore that can be described as "like new."

An absolute icon of the American West, possessing timeless elegance and offered in exceptional, mint condition.

The firearm comes with its official classification certificate (Category D), issued by the Saint-Étienne National Proof House.
