Smith & Wesson’s double-action revolvers in .32 and .38 caliber, featuring an exposed hammer, have always enjoyed great success. While one might have expected the public to favor the "Hammerless" model for a pocket revolver, the traditional version with an exposed hammer remains highly sought after. It offers the versatility of shooting in both single- and double-action modes. The model presented here is a 4th Model—a worthy successor to earlier versions—incorporating several improvements, including a new cylinder stop. This collectible Smith & Wesson revolver is one of approximately 240,000 units produced in this iconic series.

Our Model

This collectible Smith & Wesson revolver retains its superb original nickel finish, estimated at nearly 100% intact. The hammer still shows traces of its original case-hardening, and the trigger guard retains its original bluing. The deeply stamped markings are perfectly legible. The serial number located on the butt (107XXX) indicates relatively early production for the 4th Model. This number also appears on the cylinder and the barrel latch, confirming the firearm's integrity.

The mechanism is in excellent working order in both single- and double-action modes. The action opens smoothly, and cartridge extraction is effortless. The 3-inch barrel, chambered in .32 S&W Short, shows signs of use but retains a bright bore with crisp, well-defined rifling. The original grips are in excellent condition, perfectly complementing the piece. This antique black-powder revolver exemplifies the excellence of Smith & Wesson’s pocket revolvers, which remain iconic artifacts of their era.
