This Winchester Model 1873 rifle, chambered in .38-40 (.38 WCF), manufactured in 1891, is in excellent original condition. The metal parts have a beautiful, even, dark gunmetal patina. The markings are correct and perfectly legible. The serial number 387XXX confirms production in 1891. A name is inscribed on the metal plate located under the trigger guard.
The action is smooth, with a crisp and reliable strike. The 24-inch octagonal barrel, chambered in .38-40, is in very good condition, with sharp, clean rifling, attesting to its good maintenance. The wooden parts are intact, without cracks or major damage, with some signs of use, which adds character to the rifle. On the right side, an engraved "Ranch" symbol reinforces its authenticity and history.
