US Army issue belt – Buckle marked “NY”

The New York State Militia – the future National Guard – was one of the most active military formations in the 19th century. It participated in the Civil War, the Indian Wars, and conflicts against Spain, Mexico, and the Philippines.

This regulation US Army belt, made of supple leather, retains all its authenticity. It has a small, old repair consisting of a piece of leather sewn to the inside. Its length is approximately 105 cm. The original buckle, stamped “NY,” is typical of issues from the Indian Wars era.

The leather of the belt still bears a military attribution stamp, making it a rare historical piece sought after by collectors.
