History

The Colt Single Action Army revolver, nicknamed the Peacemaker, is the iconic weapon of the American West. The first version, produced in 1873, was chambered in .45 Colt and featured a 7.5-inch barrel. Over the years, Colt offered numerous variations, with different calibers and barrel lengths.

This legendary revolver was adopted by everyone from the U.S. Cavalry to outlaws, sheriffs, cowboys, and pioneers. A true icon of the Western, it holds a central place in the collective imagination through the great classics of Hollywood cinema. Today, the Colt SAA is the most sought-after historical collectible firearm in the world. Examples manufactured before 1900 are classified as Category D and can be freely purchased by any adult.

Our Model

It would be difficult to improve upon this example of the Colt SAA Frontier Six Shooter. It has been meticulously restored in the spirit of the work carried out by the most prestigious firms, such as Turnbull, with a perfect color case hardening in the Colt style. It is presented today in a condition very close to that of a firearm fresh from the Colt factory in the 19th century. The metal parts retain their original bluing, fire blue finish, and case hardening. The markings are accurate, clear, and perfectly legible. They correspond entirely to this early model, including the two-line marking specific to the short barrel, the caliber ‘44’ under the barrel, ‘44CF’ on the trigger guard, and the iconic ‘Colt Frontier Six Shooter’ marking in an etched panel on the left side of the barrel. The Colt factory inspector's marks are also visible on the trigger guard and butt plate. The serial number 94XXX, present on the butt plate, dates its manufacture to 1883. This superb example of a Single Action Army revolver is complemented by a varnished stock in excellent condition and with a perfect fit.

Mechanically, the description is simple: the weapon is perfect. Carefully restored, it features a 4 3/4" bore in .44-40 caliber, which can be described as "like new." With no play whatsoever, this revolver is fully functional.

An iconic weapon of the American West, presented here in a state of restoration and operation of rare excellence.

The firearm is accompanied by its official Category D classification certificate, issued by the National Proof House of Saint-Étienne.
