The Smith & Wesson .44 Double Action First Model marks an important milestone in the evolution of American revolvers using metallic cartridges. Introduced in 1881, it was the company's first double-action revolver, built on the large frame of the famous New Model No. 3. Approximately 55,000 were produced, and it is chambered for the prestigious .44 S&W Russian cartridge, renowned for its accuracy.
