History

The Winchester Model 1906, often simply called the Winchester 06, is an evolution of the Model 1890, designed by John M. Browning. More economical and intended for mass production, its slide action and ability to fire several types of .22 caliber cartridges made it a bestseller in the first half of the 20th century. Manufactured from 1906 to 1932, with approximately 731,000 units produced, it shares serial numbers with the Winchester Model 1890.

Our Model

This Winchester Model 1906 is in very good original condition, with a particularly harmonious vintage patina and excellent working order.

The metal parts have retained a significant portion of their original bluing, combined with beautiful gunmetal highlights. The markings—Winchester address, model, and caliber (.22 Long Rifle, Long, and Short)—are deeply engraved and perfectly legible. The early serial number 387XXX corresponds to a 1913 manufacture. It is clearly present on both main parts, confirming the integrity of this takedown version. The wooden parts are in good overall condition, showing some minor signs of use and a fine scratch under the stock. The butt plate, made of early gutta-percha and adorned with the Winchester logo, is original and perfectly fitted.

Mechanically, this rifle functions perfectly: smooth cocking, firm lockup, and crisp trigger pull. The 20-inch barrel, chambered in .22 Long Rifle, has a mirror-bright bore with deep, crisp rifling, ensuring excellent accuracy.

This Winchester Model 1906 Takedown, authentic, functional, and full of charm, will appeal to both the collector of American firearms and the shooting enthusiast.

Weapon accompanied by its certificate of classification in category D, issued by the National Proof House of Saint-Étienne.
